Q: Do I choose DVI or VGA?

I want some help to decide which type of cable to get to expand my mac so it has two displays.

If you can choose, use DVI. It will provide a much higher resolution and quality respecting to VGA. However, if you can choose among DVI, VGA and HDMI, I would choose HDMI, as you may even be able to transfer audio. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4241?viewlocale=en_US

 

Note that you have to choose the adapter that belongs to the port that your external display has got. Image will show up automatically after connecting your MacBook to your external screen
