Q: Exchange servers and Mavericks Mail

It loads it when you open the Mail app, but then no new messages will appear in the Exchange inbox while app is open - fetch new mail and the Activity Window show "Synchronizing Inbox" and jsut sits there and waits.. Close the app and reopen - New Mail appears.  Another  bug?

After many hours of searching the web and trying work arounds I seem to have fixed my exchange bug in Mail.

    My problem was:

No mail in exchange account after installing Mavericks. Mailbox simply didnt build and no new mail was received. The Mavericks update didnt work out for me, so I was becoming more than frustrated.

    Solution:

I noticed Mail used another exchange server in accounts then I use on my iOS devices. Seems like the "auto detect" option in accounts chose another server. After overriding auto-detect I manually entered the server used on my iOS devices et voila, it works.

    Small issue

Only one small issue left..it looks like new mails are being pushed to Mail with a slight delay. I can live with that for now.

I tried that as well and I thought it worked but then 48 hours later it stopped  bringing in the mail again just like before.

Mavericks' Mail Update for Gmail actually seems to have made the problem worse.

Any Sent email to oneself does not register in the Sent folder!

A send to yourself email can be made to appear in the Inbox by restarting Mail or changing and saving the account details.  ie any action foecing a sync / read.  Apple Mail in Mavericks is broken as far as Exchange is concerned.

IOS7 Mail and Exchange work well. Could Apple please get the the IOS7 team to show the Mavericks team how it's done??  We have waited long enough I think!

+1 For broken mail delivery in Exchange 2010 with Mavericks Apple Mail.  I get the same results in Outlook 2011.

Also, the bug report page has a bug - hangs when I click save, don't know if anyone else has managed to report this bug successfully.

With all this multitude of reports of the same problem, does anybody know if there is a mechanism to know whether Apple acknoledges the issue? At least if it does, we can hope for a solution at some point soon.

Weirdly, for me the solution to this was changing passwords in Active Directory (and hence, Exchange). I don't see why this should affect the previously delayed delivery of messages, but it did!

I haven't had any issues with Outlook 2011 - even when Mail would stop delivering.  Although the update isn't perfect, I found that by changing mail delivery from automatically to every minute its at least usable again.  Automatic (push) was not reliable.

Great that it works for you but it will likely stop working after a few days as it did for me.  Until they fix the issues with synching with exchange we will all be plagued.

I haven't downloaded the update yet, but I found that I could fix the original problem by deleting Accounts.plist....once I did that, the memory problems I was having went away and my emails downloaded just fine...

I'm also experiencing all the issues mentioned in this thread.

I want to first say, just so everyone is clear, Apple Mail does NOT support push mail for Exchange.  In fact NO desktop Exchange client (on any version) supports push mail, not even Outlook 2011.  Apple Mail uses EWS (Exchange Web Services) which is different from ActiveSync, which iOS and other mobile clients use.

This bug is really just poor software engineering in Apple Mail, and needs to be addressed by Apple immedietly.

True.  Apologies for using the term push for EWS vs EAS.  Deffinite difference, but Outlook 2011 was always so fast that it "felt" like it was pushed.
