2. Buy a retail Mac OS X 10.5 DVD from a source such as Amazon or eBay. Additional steps are needed if the computer's CPU is slower than 867MHz.

Do you have any other Macs with FireWire ports? There is a way to use another Mac like an external Fireawire drive.
There are no downloadble installer packages for 10.5. If you see one offered, run away! It is pirated and likely tainted with malware.
