    Don't upgrade to Mavericks.

This straight from the Avid site:

With the announcement of Apple's Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks operating system there are known issues with Media Composer 7 and earlier, Pro Tools 11 and earlier and Sibelius 7 and earlier.  Avid will announce support for Mac OS X 10.9 with future releases of Media Composer, Pro Tools and Sibelius.

It is not recommended to use Media Composer, Pro Tools or Sibelius with Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) as they are not supported at this time.

As happens every so often, an upgrade to a newer Operating System may see some of your older software no longer usable.Posthumous above, mentions some examples.

Changing from 10.6 to a higher OS also is the end of the road for any older PPC applications still able to be used under the Rosetta emulator on your Intel Mac running 10.6.

Peruse the below listings for more detail, about the effect of upgrading on possible present software..
