Hold your finger down on the app icon until they all start to wiggle. You'll see a red circle with a white X on it. Tap on that to delete the app.

If the app in question is a preinstalled app  that came with the iPad then you can't delete those.

Well...no.  I actually new the proper maneuver.  Trouble is, once things start wobbling, no amount of tapping on the app (or any other app) results in action (deletion).  Further, I can't stop the wobblies by tapping the home button.  It's as iff everything is stalled.  To get rid of the wobblies I have to shut down the pad using the button on top of the device.  What's going on??

If you look in the settings, general, restrictions, restrictions can be enabled to prevent app deletion. So you can look at that..

No restrictions on deleting apps...or anything else.  Couple of things might be helpful:  I recently did the last IOS update.  Problems began shortly after that (but not immediately).  I have a favorite game (Letterpress) which I'm having error problems with and, as of today, it won't even open.  I want to delete it and reinstall to see if that will help.  No can do.  It also occurs to me that this may well be a Game Center problem since this app is linked to it.

Second thing.  When I get everything wobbling on the screen, the circle with the "x" in it is white (pink actually, though this may be because my desktop background is red).  I have a feeling this is important (the color of the circle) since when I have updates to do, the number is clearly in a red circle...not white/pink.

    What do you think?

Another thing:  I just went to Game Center to see if there might be something I might do there...it won't open!

BTW, the white circle (supposed to be red) has a red (pink) "x" in the center.

Have you reset since the upgrade? Hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go.

I am having this problem on an iPad 2. I have tried all suggestions but nothing has worked. I cannot upgrade iOS because I do not have enough memory and I cannot delete apps because of the bug in ios7.

    What to do next?

Do you normally sync to iTunes on a computer? if so do your update via iTunes. Then your computer handles the 'extra space' the iOS wants to expand after downloading.

I had 2 gig free on my iPad but was able to update to iOS7 using my computer
