My iPod classic is connected to my computer, and I just finished using itunes, syncing my ipod.  It won't eject my ipod.  Tells me it "contains files that are currently being used in another application."

iPod classic, Windows 7

This can occur if your anti-virus programme is scanning the iPod. If you get fed up with waiting for it to finish, I've found the solution is to turn off the computer. This closes all the programmes (such as the anti-virus) and once the computer is shut down, you can safely unplug your iPod.
