Since updating my iPad 2 to iOS 7 I’ve been experiencing issues during FaceTime calls. More specifically the call hangs with a “reconnecting” message on the screen that lasts 5-7 seconds before the call reprises. This happens randomly, sometimes 10-15 mins after the call start, some other times after a few minutes. Once it starts happening it doesn’t stop and this hiccup effect makes the call impossible.

I made a few changes in the iOS7 settings to reduce CPU consumption (no background app refresh, no parallax effect etc.).

Streaming (e.g. Netflix) works fine. Also I know it’s not my wi-fi network since if I switch to my iPhone (right after the iPad starts behaving badly) the FaceTime call works perfectly.

Any idea if this is a software or hardware problem? It’s really annoying but I’m not sure whether it’s related to the update or something else.

I can’t seem to find anything related to this on the web so I’m not sure if others have had the same problem. If not I would probably say it’s a hardware thing.

Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.
