Q: My ipod classic shows the apple icon and when touching the scroll pad after 15 seconds or less a red X with a circle around it shows up and it doesn't show up in tunes or on the computer for connected devices

My ipod classic shows the apple icon and when touching the scroll pad after 15 seconds or less a red X shows up and also when connected to the computer it doesn't show up in itunes and neither does it show up on the computer under connected items

Those steps did not solve the problem. I have tried everything to reset it, but it still shows the red "x" and says www.apple.com/support/ipod. I have only had this iPod for 3 months, I do not understand what the problem is,
