We bought a new Airport Extreme last weekend and everything was fine. A week later (this last Saturday) we had trouble connecting to it. I reset it and my modem many times but nothing happened.  I unplugged the airport overnight and then the next day it worked fine until that night.  As of right now, the airport is online, and the green light is solid. Also, all of my wireless devices are connected to it (iMac, Macbook Pro, iPod, and Droid Incredible 2).  The only problem is that I'm not getting the internet. I am connected to it on everything but it doesn't seem to be able to connect to the internet, except on my iMac, which I'm on right now.

So to summarize, all of my devices are connected to my airport but are not getting the internet except for my iMac.  To add to the problem, my iPod connects then loses a bar every 5 seconds to the point of only having 1 bar 2 feet from the airport.  Any suggestions?

Same problem here. We purchased a new Airport Extreme 5th gen to replace an old 4 th gen. The new Airport Extreme is intermittent and keeps dropping the connection. I switched the new 5 th gen with the old 4th gen and all works great again. Why is the new unit failing to keep a good Internet connection? Also, the wireless Epson printer will not show up when the new 5 th gen Airport Extreme is hooked up but shows up fine with old Extreme. Anyone have an idea why the new unit is not connecting like the old?

    Which devices, except the iMac?

Which settings in the Extreme for wireless?

    First Aid:

Enter the manual setup, disable Guest Network and give the 5GHz a dedicated name.

Check that DHCP is active and that the security is set to "WPA2 personal"

Nope ... definitively NOT the same problem.

I suggest to open your own question to solve your problem instead of disrupting a therad of someone else. That's impolite.

It's still under the title "Weirdness" as our office is having weirdness too. This weirdness is that we are having conflicting IP addresses all over the place with the new Airport Extreme (tower) and two airport express' in Bridge Mode. In the Airport Utility the Internet light is going orange for about 5-10 seconds and then to green for about 10-15 seconds. We have computers that get intermittent connections to the internet.  These moments appear very random when these spurts happen. Right now, the new tower Airport Extreme is the new device on our network. Everything was fine for 2 years with our previous Airport Extreme. BUT NOW the new one doesn't support SNMP now so I cannot troubleshoot TRAFFIC issues that might be the cause.

We also run Lion Server where we use filechute software to upload and transfer download links to clients. That filechute software shows constant random lack of access when refreshing. It's as intermittent as the internet now.

    Thanks Apple!
