Q: Late 2013 MacBook Pro SSD score is low!?

I have a 2.8GHz i7 / 512GB SSD/ 16GB late 2013 rMBP.

Installed WIndows 7 in boot camp. but the Windows Experience Index shows a 5.9 score for the Hard disk, i think this is pretty average?? it looks like a 7200rpm HDD's score, not a SSD...

Use HD Tune shows a average 350MB/s.

Is that normal under Windows Boot camp??

In OS X, i am happy with the speed, doesn't feel any thing strange, but under Windows, its kind of not as smooths as OS X.

anyone know why?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

Have you installed the Boot Camp drive package? Maybe you should install the Intel Rapid storage technology package downloaded directly from Intel.

what i do is just run the boot camp assistant and finish the installation, and it works, nothing else.... do i need to do anything extra?

i think 5.9 will be too low anyway..

At the start of the Boot Camp Assistant app it give you the option to download the Windows support files, those are the drivers needed for the hardware in the Mac.

did you download those Windows Support files? And if you did download them did you copy them to a USB thumb drive and then when windows finished installing run the Setup.exe file to load those support files?

I have the same issue with exactly the same new MBP 15' late 2013.

I had also serious issues with Win7 loading time (more than a minute), making me re-install Bootcamp+Win7 in order to fix the problem. But it did not have any effect on the SSD Windows access score.

The crystalbench is also disappointing with a decreased access speed compared with Maverick's.

I used the Bootcamp drivers downloaded through the BootCamp app. Could it be a driver problem?

I can get the 7.9 score for win7.

I use the bootcamp to build up installation USB and download the driver from apple.

When I finish the installation and reboot in win7, I install the setup.exe which is inside the bootcamp folder in the USB.

All drivers are good for machine. But there are two drivers can not be install good. One of them can download and update from online. But the other one "SMBUS" can not do that.

Does anyone know how to fix that?

My machine is 2013 late MBPR with 750m.

I had the same problem only 5.9 windows 7 rating, I did a manual change of the ATA/ATAPI controlers, selected the standard achi controler and did a manual change of the drive from the intel drivers from boot camp,

1, select update drivers and choose browse my computer for driver software.

2, select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"

3,untick "Show compatible haardware then have disk,

4,point to the drivers from bootcamp \Intel\Chipset\WIN7

5,select the "Intel(R) 8 Series/C220 Series SATA ACHI Controler - 8C02" you will get a warning message but click yes to install.

    6, Reboot if need

After rebooting rerun the windows rating and the ssd gave me a rating of 7.9.

    Hope this helps

Hi Richard, I'm having the same issue but am unable to find the file "Intel(R) 8 Series/C220 Series SATA ACHI Controler - 8C02."  Is this located on the bootcamp install software USB drive?

    Hi Zack,

You have to create the bootcamp drivers disk during the bootcamp setup and then when in windows look on the USB key that you copied the drives to during setup. They should be in the folder \Intel\Chipset\WIN7, when trying to update the driver in windows you need to select let me pick the driver else the driver is not found.

    Regards,

    Richard
