Q: Exchange servers and Mavericks Mail

It loads it when you open the Mail app, but then no new messages will appear in the Exchange inbox while app is open - fetch new mail and the Activity Window show "Synchronizing Inbox" and jsut sits there and waits.. Close the app and reopen - New Mail appears.  Another  bug?

my exchange account has stopped working since i did the update, +update to mavericks, have done the every 5 mins, have rebuilt, but no mail appears in the account.. i am in the middle of a big project so am relying on my iphone which is running on old software and working fine. I have been advised that i need to delete my accounts (which i can only do thrrough icloud which will then delete the account from all my devices) and start again. I have also been advised that i risk losing stuff. i bitterly regret udating my software, every thing worked fine, now in the middle of a big project i can only use my iphone to communicate. The staff at apple seem to be clueless as well i even had a support guy on my desktop trying to resolve it, and his solution was delete everything and start again. The first rebuild took 2 days to sync up.

I think you are misunderstanding some things.  Your iCloud account has nothing to do with your Exchange account, other than the fact that Apple support has asked you to remove all your Mail accounts.  You can never remove your Exchange account "through iCloud".  Also, when you delete your account on your Mac it will NOT remove it on your iPhone or iPad.  If Apple support is telling you otherwise, they are incorrect.

In addition, you would never lose any of your saved emails from your Exchange account.  All the email on your Mail Exchange account is stored on your Exchange server, and synced to your local computer.  There is no way to configure it otherwise, for example you could never have an Exchange account only receive new mail in Apple Mail and not store that mail on the Exchange server.

Here is a screenshot of the activity window when Mail gets stuck.  I have been monitoring all day with Wireshark packet captures, Mail basically stops ALL communication when it does this.  When quitting Mail and reopening, it will work good again right away, but may reappear 15 minutes to an hour later...

I also checked our Exchange server IIS logs, nothing looks strange there, no EWS throttling policy issues or anything like that.

i have removed the account off my mac, then i enable it again but nothing changes, i even turned off energy save so that the activity window could keep going but still no mail the inbox is empty, I cannot delete the account from one computer according to the icloud key chain, can i delete the key chain so that my computer works on its own.

I concur.  Emails coming through to iPhone no problem, but long delays appearing in Mail on Macbook Pro running Mavericks.  Often the inbox fails to build, and getting a lot of 'failed to send' messages, expecially with attachements (not big ones).

exchange mail problem after update from X.7. to X.9.

But insede my office in my network I receive and can send mails with my exchange account

But outside the office mail does not find server (can be viewed in activity window). In my office there is a delay after pushing the send button. I deleted account, new install, nothing changes.

Same problem on my colleaques Mac. Inside office it works, outside no connection to exchange server.

And outside office, I always have to check SMTP server, even I cloud account, because it changes without

    pushing any buttons.

    I don't know what's going on.

This is most likely a configuration problem with your exchange server.  Specifically, it's probably a misconifgured "Outlook Anywhere" address on Exchange.  You might of had a manually configured "external server" address on your old settings under your exchange account in Mail.

That's a good point, I also often get messages that fail to send through Exchange.  It prompts me to "try again" and always works the second time.  It appears to be related to all the other issues, and I think Mail is in the "stuck" mode when it has this problem.

The problem is still there: new mails arrive very late, can take up to more than an hour later than on my iPhone. Sometimes it works (that is: new mail arrives within 5 minutes) and somethimes it takes extremely long. And a new problem (at least for me) arrived: sometimes mail won't display as "read" until I quit and restart mail. I also notice that mail is hanging quite often. To cut the story short: this update didn't do anything good for Exchange.

Every time I think I have this problem solved, I wait an hour and discover it's not solved.

This is a well known, mission critical issue that shouldn't be taking this long to fix.

To me what is astonishing is that Apple itself is totally mute with respect to this mission critical issue and its resolution. Especially when it is so enterprise focused. Not just aggravating end users but no doubt plenty of IT departments and department heads also.

I agree with your wholeheartedly.  I have a friend that was in the Apple Store today working with the one-on-one folks on using his first ever iMac.   They could not train him on Mac mail because his corporate mail was not working properly and they both thought I had set it up incorrectly.   I spoke to the apple trainer on the phone and told him it was his freaking maverick update That broke mail.   Amazing that they didn't even know that.

I was working with level two engineers for about 5 days and every time we thought we had a fix it ended up breaking after a few days. I would safely say there is no fix until Apple comes out with the correct patch for it.   Apple engineers had me reload my machine from scratch with only Maverick and then when the problem reoccurred they captured some huge log files which will hopefully lead them to where the problem is and they should have a fixed within the next seven days would be my best guess

I (no doubt like many) reported this as a bug on 27th Oct. After uploading various log files at the request of the engineer I eventually found that apple had "closed" my bug - marking it as a duplicate of "15197879 (Open)". It seems that apple does not allow me to even view that bug report to confirm that it has the same symptoms - let alone track progress. So I have no idea whether they are making progress on this and they have not asked me to test a beta update. I would say seven days is optimistic.

I am still working with the Engineer and also reported the bug around the same date as you.  I am still hopeful they have a fix within 7 days or sooner but as you and I both know we cannot predict the future.  All i can say for sure is I have a very pretty $3,000 Macbook getting plenty of beauty rest.
