Why is this such a secret? It's impossible to fiind in Mac literature.

How come if I plug one of my two jacks on a headset it seems loose. i know the single jack is supposed to be the same size, but it doesn't seem the same.

If I get the two jacks to one jack adaptor, both ends 3.5mm is that correct?

3.5mm has been the standard for the last 40 years. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3.5mm
