Nov 13, 2013 7:55 AM in response to explorzby MaryBoog,What about syncing video's? I wanted to add one to my iPhone 4S, connected to iTunes via USB, selected the video but nothing happened. Deleted all video's from my iphone then and tried re-sync. Nothing happened.... how do I get video's back on my iPhone?

Nov 13, 2013 8:02 AM in response to MaryBoogby Armando Stettner,Mavericks itself (regardless of the version if currently available iTunes), has removed the ability to sync contacts and calendar (and, apparently, keychain entries - passwords, authorizations, etc.) via iCloud and NOT over any local direct connection (via USB or WiFi). As I understand it, all other items can go over those local direct connections and do not have to go over iCloud.

Nov 13, 2013 10:47 AM in response to explorzby Nikos K.,When turning IPv6 to auto iTunes "see" all my ios devices. Thanks for help.
I also turn airports IPv6 to auto too.

Nov 14, 2013 3:08 PM in response to explorzby One Last Punk,I think 7.0.4 fixes it. At least, it did here. IPv6 is on link-local only and I just did a WIFI sync when I couldn't before.

Nov 14, 2013 7:21 PM in response to mm_on_ascby Gerry Beggs,This is the same behavior I am having... After a restart, iTunes recognizes all my iOS devices and I can sync them normally. After some time (probably after it sleeps), it will only see devices connected by USB.
Very frustrating.

Nov 14, 2013 7:33 PM in response to florian170by Gerry Beggs,Could you explain why I can still sync my contacts to my iPod (iOS 6) and iPad (iOS7) without using iCloud then?
I'd be curious how I can do it, but you can't, and you claim that Apple says they are preventing you from doing it.

Nov 14, 2013 9:37 PM in response to Gerry Beggsby Armando Stettner,As I understand it, the infrastructure for (at least) the local sync capabilities is implemented in Mac OS X and involved by iTunes if it is there.

Nov 14, 2013 10:28 PM in response to Armando Stettnerby Gerry Beggs,I guess I didn't mention that I'm also running Mavericks (since it's mentioned in the subject of this thread, I didn't think it was necessary to mention).
My contacts sync just fine without using iCloud.

I guess I find that hard to believe. After upgrading to Mavericks and then noticing after a few days that contacts and the calendar was not sync'ing, I did some research and called support. Indeed, iCloud is required.
From an Apple support page:
Note: These instructions apply only if you use OS X v.10.8.5 or earlier. If you use OS X Mavericks v.10.9 or later, your contacts, calendars, and other info are updated on your computers and iOS devices via iCloud. For more information, see iCloud Help at icloud.com.
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12117?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
All this is not to say that your upgrade was somehow corrupted or not completed and remnants left-overs was enough to keep this functionality. But, I find this even more hard to believe. Music, photos, etc. sync as before. Are you sure your changes in your contacts and calendars make it over and that things are not going over iCloud while you are not knowing about it?
aps.

Nov 15, 2013 6:36 AM in response to explorzby Amin_AA,Can confirm that 7.0.4 seems to have fixed my problem permenantly. Having said that, I have also disabled the 5 Ghz network on my WiFi router, forcing both my Mac and iPhone 4S to conect at 2.4 Ghz. But I did that before 7.0.4 was avaiable and it didn't solve the problem of the iPhone not appearing in iTunes so I'm pretty sure it's down to the iOS update.
I think people are conflating two issues in this thread: the none appearanse of the iPhone button in iTunes (over WiFi) and the removal of local Calender and Contact Synching (iCloud only). These are two issues are not at all the same and should be discussed sepratly.

Nov 15, 2013 8:22 AM in response to Gerry Beggsby tompeedee,I completely understand your frustration. I had the exact same problem. But my devices (ipad2 and iphone4) now work, although I wont promise this is a permanant fix.
Connect your device by USB, it the sync over wifi is ticked on, tick it and apply. Then tick it back on and apply. If its not ticked just tick and apply. Now sync. Quit itunes while your device is still connected. Unplug the device. Open itunes and you should see the device appear within a minute on itunes and ready to sync. If it doesn't appear turn off wifi on your mac for around half a minute and turn it back on. It should appear now.
If this works even for just a while giving you just one wifi sync before failing its worth persisting with it. I found that I had to do it less and less over time and since last night I haven't had to do it at all.
Do this for each device you have.
Good Luck

Nov 15, 2013 2:02 PM in response to naten530by nwchatguy,Seems like an Apple debacle to me. I have always stayed with Macs because they always just work! Not now. This was a terrible upgrade that I wish I had never done. Not being able to sync calendars is a big deal. Why is it taking so long to fix something so basic? Are they learning from the Obamacare website?

Nov 15, 2013 2:36 PM in response to nwchatguyby blee4,Have you updated your iOS devices to 7.0.4?
I did on both my iPhone 5 and iPad Mini they started syncing again.
-
Nov 15, 2013 2:38 PM in response to blee4by nwchatguy,I updated both also. So now I checked sync Calendar on the cloud and now it says error. Very frustrating. Apple apparantly isn't what it used to be.

Nov 15, 2013 4:16 PM in response to explorzby Chuck and Shirley,My wi-fi sync was toast, now it works fine. Using iTunes on Windows, so YMMV.
iPad worked fine to sync via wi-fi. Then I got some updates to iTunes and iPad. Then they wouldn't sync over wi-fi, and iPad disappeared from Devices list when I pulled the USB plug.
Closed iTunes and disconnected iPad. Launched Task Manager (CTRL-SHIFT-ESC keys, all at the same time). Choose Processes tab. Highlight and delete (End Task) each Process that starts with Apple or iPod or iPad or iTunes.
Launched iTunes, paused, connected iPad. Waited for automatic USB sync to complete.
Pulled USB plug, iPad remains on Devices list and sync's over wi-fi as it always did.
Basically, all I did was manually stopped some "background" tools (Processes) that were still running even though iTunes was closed and iPad was disconnected, then auto-started them up again by launching iTunes. You might get similar results from rebooting the PC. Toggling the "Sync va wi-fi" box couldn't hurt, either.
