OK, I tried again using the method from lars@work

It works. The update will run in the background. One just have to be patient.

Thanks, the language trick works. Very strange that updates are only offered for english installation. Actually I didn't need Aperture 3.5, but I did an install of the new iPhoto (I like the unfied libraries) and suddenly my library couldn't be openend in Aperture 3.4.5 anymore. Now this seems to work again.

I saw another thread where a guy made a virtual installation of 10.9 Mavericks, installed Aperture 3 again in that inviroment, updated it via App Store and then were able to do it on the Mac where it did not work, in the first place.

That worked for me too. :-)

I use MenuMeters to show stuff about my hardware. Here I can see my network traffic and see that I am downloading even though nothing in the App Store is showing that I am.

    Cheers!

Well, the language trick might be all good and well, if your system language is something else than English. But if you happen to have English as a system language…

I still don't have the 3.5 update showing up. I've rebooted, switched accounts, changed languages, sacrificed rubber ducks and played woodoo drums, but no. There is no Aperture 3.5 update for me (purchased a boxed 1.5.2, then purchased an update to 2.0 and even paid for 3.0 – and apparently I still have to pay 69,99 €…).

Have you moved Aperture from your Applications folder or renamed it?

Are you signed into the AppleStore with an AppleID valid in the country you are in?

No, I haven't. Aperture is (and has always been) in /Applications. And yes, I'm signed in with my valid AppleID in my country's App Store.

The problem is now however solved, but the nice way. I first installed Mavericks on an external HD and downloaded Aperture 3.4.5 update (I don't have any DVD drives so I can't use my boxed installation disk). Then I copied Aperture over from my internal HD so that the 3.4.5 update would install as it requires an existing Aperture 3 installation. Now that I had a new working Aperture 3.4.5 I fired the App Store and voilá, the 3.5 showed up. I installed it, then rebooted, wiped out the internal HD and installed Mavericks and Aperture 3.5 from App Store. Simplicity by Apple…

Thank you for the instructions to solve this problem!

When I had switched my system language to english, the Aperture installation was recognized, Aperture was added to my purchases in the AppStore and I could download the update on my iMac. Aperture was also shown in the purchases on my MacBook Pro, but to update the existing installation (instead of a new installation) I also had to change system language to U.S. english. After updating I changed back my system to german and everything ist o.k. now.

This is a really Win-like bug (somone has forgotten that there are some non U.S. customers in the world...) and Apple should not leave their users alone to fiddle that out!

    Hoping for a bugfix-update soon

I have the same problem with mye boxed edition. Have bought version 1, 2 and 3 trough the years. Will try to change language to english and then change from Norwegian to English to se if that solves the problem. To pay a full upgrade once more is a little too much for me for a minor upgrade.

I have a similiar problem.  Aperture 3.4.5 will not update to 3.51. I am not running Mavericks.  My system is OS X 10.7.5.  I purchased Aperture 2 on disk and upgraded  to 3 from disks not the App Store.  Aperture is in its original location, the Application folder, and it is named Aperture.  I have not changed anything.  Updates worked fine till 3.5 came out and since then no updates.  Oh, and my default language is English and I live in Canada.

    Any suggestions?

TallGuy, look at my solution a few messages up... I had a similar situation, except I don't live in Canada. ;)  Messy, but works.

I agree. Apple should do something about it. It should be an easy task for them to solve. I wait till they come around with a fix for this. Hope it will not last long.

I bought the boxed version of 2 and 3 of Aperture, and I feel I am left out in the cold when I cannont get this minor upgrade for free. Apple has a reputation for user friendliness to take care of. I will wait till Apple come up with a solution to people with boxed solutions. Now when everything is online with App Store that is probably the future.

I wait and see what kind of offer they come up with when release 4 of Aperture is released and do not bother with this minor upgrade, even though it is a bit irritating.

So my solution is: Wait and see what Apple comes up with for customers with boxed solution when Aperture 4 is released. I know at least one other highly comeptive alternative if Apple does not find a good solution. Loyality is still there for me. I love Aperture, but the loyalty will not last forever. It depends of what  answers Apple give to my problem.

Tried the language trick. Did not work. Had to sign in for the Norwegina App store. Really frustrating waist of time. So US Enlish as language did not help.

So I need a quick fix rather soon. My plan was to continue with Aperture, but I guess I have to find other solutions.

I feel betrayed by Apple. Bought all their boxed solutions, but when they swithced to App Store online solution I  feel I lost all  support for upgrades.

Feel that the money spent on Aperture boxed solution was a waist of money.

I know of other software companies that give you a nice offers when it comes to upgrades. For Aperture upgrades I have allways paid the full price. I feel I have spent a lot of money on Apertures boxed versions up till now and gets little in return when it comes to support and nice offers from Apple.

Why do they not give us customers with boxed version a nice offer to swith to the online solution when Aperture 4 arrives?
