Check your QT-> Sy. prefer. in Advanced tab mime settings
Security tab: Enable plug-ins checked on, mmm what else, Safari preferences Appearance tab : ✓ Display images when the page opens.
Let us know if this helps.

Have you tried another account on your machine to see if it is isolated to your account only, if not try that. Sys. prefer.->Accounts use the plus to
add an other account if you do not already have one set up, with the plus+.
Which update did you do ? Let us know if it works .

Currently Being ModeratedMay 22, 2006 8:38 PM (in response to Eme)I created a new account and it had the same problem. The update was the last auto-update. I believe there was a security update and a quicktime update. I rolled back the quicktime from 7.1 to 7.0.1 and then to 7.0.4 and none of that worked either

Perhaps you should try repairing the disk with a reboot & the CD holding the 'c" key after/at chime, till the wheel stops turning. See if it helps. Do you back up your data always a good thing now & again. That way if something happens you have you all important files.

Software Update /Installed Updates should tell you.So which v. QT do you have ? Did you run permission before & after the updates, disconnect all firewire & peripherals.
Good luck. Keep us posted.

Currently Being ModeratedMay 25, 2006 3:48 PM (in response to Eme)I ran the disk repair and it did not fix the problem. I have quicktime version 7.0.4 and flash version 7. i went to the old versions because i thought maybe one of them was the issue, but the videos still do not play on any website.
i also have run permissions repair several times.
any other suggestions?
Currently Being ModeratedMay 26, 2006 2:06 AM (in response to Kristen D)All I can think of is for you to try reinstalling the Mac OS X 10.4.6 update again.
Good luck. Hope this helps.

Currently Being ModeratedJun 26, 2006 6:17 PM (in response to Kristen D)This is in some ways comforting to hear... i've been going MAD with this same problem At least I'm not alone, not that I would wish madness on anyone...
Have you come up with any solution!?
I'm running 10.4.6, QT7.1.1, Flash 8, and this happens on both Firefox & Safari, in all user accounts.
The Symptom: Any web page with any kind of flash included (surprisingly many, noticing now that they don't load) leaves an empty space where the flash should be.
I have tried everything I know... and even stuff that I dug up in the 'dark side' of the internet (... skip the Voodoo dolls and snake oil...) I've rebooted, fixed permissions, reinstalled/upgraded everything seemingly related (no full format/install though... that solution is for windoze)
I've been working on a mac for my entire life, and this is quite literally the 2nd time I've ever posted with a problem. The first issue? When Flash didn't produce sound! Garage Band fixed that one... but no luck this time. None of my previous research/experience has helped me, so I now turn to the Mac community.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer wisdom.
