Q: Why is my iPhone 5 (iO7) not supported by BMW iDrive?

I've recently purchased a BMW 116i and i've been unable to connect my iPhone 5 (iO7) to the car with an error message coming up when i connect it by USB saying "not supported".  Does anyone have any ideas how to resolve this issue?

The iPhone is up to date the latest iO7 software and I can connect the phone via Bluetooth to make phone calls through the car.

i'm not sure if this is a BMW issue or an Apple issue, but if anyone has any tips on how to resolve this so i can start playing music in the car it would be appreciated.

iPhone 5, iOS 7.0.4, BMW, USB

BMW issue ,of course, aparently they are working on it .It is a unique issue with iDrive

non iDrive vehicles work fine with all the relevant  factory options fitted

Just to make things more complicated.   My father has a BMW 530d with a similar iDrive system (system MN-002.017.007) and my iPhone 5 would connect to that car.

My systems however with (ME-008.008.000) will not recognise my phone.

So this is not just a BMW issue, it seems to be an issue for this version of the BMW iDrive operating system.

I assume therefore that i need to wait for an BMW update rather than an a Apple update?

As I said above ,other posters have it appears, tacit acceptance from BMW that whilst the two new iP5 cradles work fine but not the Media version is seems with iDrive

Experiencing the same problem. If anyone becomes aware of a fix please let me know - incredibly annoying to be going backwards after upgrading to the new iphone!

    Cheers

I got my new BMW 116d 2 weeks ago and my iPhone 5 iOS 7 can't connect at all with the car. The Bluetooth works fine ( telephone use) and of course I can charge my mobile via USB port. But no other functionality is working and I was supposed to be able hear music, right? I honestly can't understand who to blame for this. Is it apple or BMW? Or is it me that don't have the BMW apps. On the other hand I have read that iOS 6 was working, right?

It is up to BMW to make their system compatible with the technology ...for heavens sake

Are you sure you specked the correct features when ordering you do not get music streaming as standaard
