I'm trying to open a Pages file for work. It was telling me to update, so I updated. Still keeps telling me I have to get the newer version but I have it. I can't load the file still.

If you're double clicking on the document, it might still be opening with the previous version of Pages on your computer.

    Try these steps:

    1. Right click on the document and select Get Info.
    2. There will be a section titled "Open With."  Make sure Pages 5.0 is selected here:Screen Shot 2013-11-20 at 12.40.36 PM.png
    3. Once it is listed there, click on the Change All button right below the drop down so all Pages documents will open with the new Pages when you double click on them.

You can also open Pages from your Applications folder, but look for Pages with this icon:

Once you have Pages open, you can go to File>Open and locate the document.

I was having the same problem and I figured it out --- the new pages didn't overwrite iWork 09

You need to go into the Finder and open the new Pages that has the new icon.
