I hope it works out for all of you.

I'd been suffering loss of FaceTime / iMessage since August on iOS 6.* and finally caved into iOS 7 update on the basis it was supposed to fix this.

Very disappointed yesterday to upgrade and find i still had this issue.

However, I've just got it working (for now at least!). I tried switching iMessage off, then doing a Network settings reset - no joy. But then I remembered to disable both iMessage and FaceTime and then do the network settings reset - this has worked...

I had this issue and my phone also kept telling me that my password was incorrect everytime I entered it.  Though, I knew the password was correct.

I opened iTunes on my PC and reset my password.  I noticed here that my password did not meet the password requirements.  (I guess they changed since I set that old password so long ago.)  I thought maybe this was the issue, and reset my password.

On my phone, I then did the following:

    1. Settings > iCloud > Account > <enter new password>
    2. Settings > Messages > iMessage

    It activated first try.

    Hope this helps!

Still nothing!  I have done another factory restore.  For a while I was not getting the error message but today it started again.  I have even tried the steps posted in the last 48hr in a hope that it would work.  Still 'waiting for activation'.

Yes, the email / Apple ID works but not the number and it is the number I want to work on the phone!!

Again, keep posting what the generation the phone is, what iOS the trouble started on, what you are on now, carrier and location.  Hopefully this will in the end narrow it down.

Issue started (this time) on iOS6** (not sure which one)

    Currently on iOS7.0.4

I have tried all fixes. Nothing has worked. I have reset network settings, done a full erase and reload. Same thing. when I try to use imessage on ipad 4 I get a message that there was an error when I tried to activate. Everything else works, Facetime etc. My ipad has no cellular, all settings are what they shgould be. What now.

I talked to apple yesterday and they walked me through all but the reset and erase, I did that last night with same results.

Been having the same problem, this worked for me just now.

    In Settings,

    • Turn imessage off
    • Turn Facetime off
    • Turn icloud off
    • Turn Wi-Fi off
    • Power Down
    • Power Up
    • Check Wi-Fi is still off and you have connectivity to your phone network
    • Turn icloud on and put in your password, follow up with imessage & Facetime
    • Then turn Wi-Fi back on
    • DON'T MISS OUT ANY STEPS AND DO IT IN THIS ORDER.

Any new methods for an ipad?  No cellular connectivity just wifi

    Ipad 2 and mini

They both say message not delivered, but the recipient gets the message.  Visa versa on the other end when others send me imessages..  Really weird.

That is great news!!!   Wish I could say the same.

As of right now, after leaving for 48hr I have a change from 'waiting for activation' to 'Activation unsuccessful.  Turn on iMessage and try again'  Guess I would have to turn it off first!

By the way what is the phone details, location and carrier?  This might point to something now that you have come back on line.

Thanks for working with us over the last while
