Thanks for your reply.
All of the articles that sent, deal with using iTunes and Airplay and I usually do not use iTunes because I use captions (.srt files) that do not work with iTunes.
Any thoughts about this issue without using iTunes?

Thanks for the follow up and additional information. Are you using a third-party application to AirPlay to your Apple TV? If so, you may want to consult with the developer for troubleshooting information.

ive been trying to watch watchmen on my itunes, and i finally gave up and downloaded it to my ipad, which will airplay it no problem. I BELIEVE that there is a possibility that DRM protected movie files will play for a few minutes while the movie is requesting licensing permission to airplay to another screen, but once the reply is null or negative, it drops the feed.
i realized this as i tried a workaround with airparrot, but the audio would play but with a black screen for the video, the video was being blocked. i couldnt play it through vlc either.
my theory is that the DRM is PREVENTING US FROM WATCHING OUR BOUGHT AND PAID FOR MOVIES ON OTHER SCREENS, as there is no way to AUTHORIZE and AIRPLAY DEVICE TO OUR APPLE ID'S.
The annoyance is that it will play momentarily while itunes is requesting permission, which made me initially feel it was a weak network signal. Not the case.
If anyone can tell me im wrong in this or can investigate it more accurately, please let me know, im very frustrated that ive set up an entirely wireless home theater but i cant take advantage of itunes as the center of it, even though years ago i decided i would never download illegally. I feel this DRM thing is punishing honest people.
