Q: Exchange servers and Mavericks Mail

It loads it when you open the Mail app, but then no new messages will appear in the Exchange inbox while app is open - fetch new mail and the Activity Window show "Synchronizing Inbox" and jsut sits there and waits.. Close the app and reopen - New Mail appears.  Another  bug?

Mac mini (Mid 2011), OS X Mavericks (10.9)

Yeah, at this point I think we have well documented in the thread that this is usually only a brief fix.  It's clearly a huge bug in Apple Mail.

I would also like to add, I have honestly seen this to a much smaller degree in Mountain Lion for a while, but it would only happen every once in a while.

The worst part about this in my view is that Apple is actually licensing MS Exchange support from Microsoft (well at least officially on ActiveSync for iPhone, but since the MS Exchange logo is in Apple Mail I would think the license agreement includes this too).  It's not like it has been reverse engineered by Apple or anything, they would have direct support from Microsoft to fix this.

Hopefully this is addressed in the "other bugs associated with the Mail app" section.

The most recent build 13B35 of the forthcoming maintenance update notes fixes for Gmail, SmartFolders and other bugs associated with the Mail app. People familiar with the release said Mail is sill a focus area for testing, as is Safari, Graphics Drivers and VoiceOver.

I just send a long email to Tim Cook.  Not that he will respond directly to me but it can't hurt our cause.  I do not think the new build being released is going to address our issues as apple has pulled the deniability card on the existence of any such issue.  From my experienc unless it affects a certain percentage of the users corporattions typically ignore it.  I had a similar issue with my new BMW and the built in maps would send me to the wrong location often as it conffused the City of Phoenix with Scottsdale.  After fighting for months I had a BMW engineer in my car and we drove to several locations that took me to dead-ends.  Having "proven" the issue it was then scalated to New Jerrsey where they were able to replicate the issue .  Shortly thereafter it was told to me in simple terms that it did not affect enough users and would not be fixed.  The "fix" was for me to use my iphone instead of my built in Navigation that probably cost me an additional $.

I won't roll over this easy this time.   I paid about $3K for this Macbook Retina display that now sits idle collecting dust as email is a critical part of my daily tasks.  I borrowed a new 14" HP Latptop from my office that I am not enjoying..

I don't know what is the best way to make it to social media etc, but I just posted on reddit. Maybe it will get enough upvotes to become known:

Question to the community about this - Is anyone else having this issue with accounts on Microsoft Hosted Exchange too?

We have an all mac office with multiple domains for email and our office365 accounts have been whack since the Mavericks upgrade.

Seems a shame to have a brand new Macbook sitting gathering dust... I've configured my new Macbook pro with retina to dual boot in order to run Windows 8.1 with Office 2013. That links fine to Exchange 2008 and doesn't have any issues. Not ideal I know, but is the fastest Windows machine I've ever owned!

Occasionally I boot into Mavericks to see whether there are any updates for the mail issue... Mail still links to Exchange and seems to be sync'ing from 29th Oct. Just crashed after attempting to clear the trash folder.

I wondered whether Tim Cook would be chuffed that Apple's new hardware is being used to run the latest Windows operating system. Maybe that will prompt the engineers to investigate the issue... Here's hoping.....

Just confirmed that Intermedia's Hosted Exchange service is having problems syncing mail in Mavericks as well. A fellow consultant friend of mine uses them to host exchange for some of his offices

Gadderz,  good point,   I actually had Vmware Fusion on it but took it off when they told me I needed a vanilla computer and hinted that it or something third party may have been causing my issues.  Since I have access to Action Pack Sofware I too will load WIndows 8.1 and will be using Office 2013 until they fix this issue.  It will be better than havng to backdown to Mountain Lion and reinstall all my Apps and data.

I'm having the same exact issue.  Everything shows up on my iphone and ipad immediately.  How long does it generally take for Apple to fix these bugs?  Not having Mail on my MP is killing me!

The workaround is to put Bootcamp and Windows and then Office for Windows.   Apple forum admins have been removing my posts ever since I have been trying to publicize what is really going on regarding a fix so i have to be careful what I say.

Real shame that Apple doesn't take this seriously. We have all tried every idea posted here and via tech support directly. Nothing works. I am now accessing my Exchange account via IMAP. I cannot update my company of 20 Mac users to Mavericks to take advantage of the system updates valualbe enhancements until they fix this.

Apple I emplore you to address and fix this issue ASAP. Workarounds are not viable solutions...and we all really want to use Mavericks with a clear conscience. And to deploy to all our users withouth the hours of frustration on our and the users part.

Working with Level 1 and 2 tech's at apple will not resolve the issue.   Your workaround is Office for Windows with either Bootcamp, Parallels, Vmware another Open Source Virtualization app that runs on top of Mavericks.

I'm about one week away from reloading my Macbook from scratch with Mountain Lion, that is if I can make a obtain and make a bootable image on a flash drive.   Theoretically I can do an internet recovery but am not sure if it will try and recover Mountain Lion or Mavericks.

Just did it. More for the sake of offering validation to others having this issue who do not follow this support thread. They need to know they are not going crazy.

Same issue here, Exchange 2010, MacOS 10.9 MacPro. Mail just not getting synced later than a month ago. I have a very big inbox which indeed works in all my Outlooks and OWA but just doesn't work in Mail.app.

I have to use Vmware Fusion with Win 8.1 guest and Outlook 2013, but it's annoying to switch between the windows and mac, and it eats alot of battery.

Hope it will be resolved asap.
