Q: Did Pages really take away features?

I saw some comments made that Pages took away features, such as Mail Merge, word count, page count, find/replace, ability to save as .doc, which are features I would normally use while working from home or even at home projects.

I would like to know if this is true before buying Pages from the App Store.

At least 90 features that exist in Pages 4 are not in Pages 5. It's not that features were taken away, exactly. Pages 5 is a brand-new application & most of the features were not put in. Word count & exporting as .doc still exist. Apple did add a couple of features yesterday & has said they will be adding more. In the meantime, so what many users are doing - stick with Pages 4 to get work done.

If you do have Pages 4.3, Pages 5 is a free update.

Thank you so much for clarifying that. I do have an older version but my new Mac didn't come with a SuperDrive unfortunately so I will be one of many who will be purchasing and downloading from the App Store. :)

    Thanks again, Peggy!

You should have iWork still in your Applications/iWork folder.

Export all your Pages 5 files to PAges '09 or Word .doc files and trash it.

Rate/Review Pages 5 in the App Store.

Pages v5 default to Word export is now .docx. Tested that in the Apple Store — not on my Mac .

    Yes I know. Sloppy writing.

Have you noticed how Apple's keyboards seem to drop letters now? I am constantly going back to fix my typing.

Can't be because they are old, same happens on Apple's brand new gear in the Apple Store.

Many is the slip betwixt the cup and the lip.

Even in sobriety, I find increasingly, and with no small mockery, that my normal keen spelling sense has become riddled with absentee  or juxtaposed vowels and consonants. There is no such thing as keyboard clairvoyance.

Used to be PCs were a constant problem.

Apple seems to have finally caught up. All the fun has gone out of Macs.
