I am the only user of this computer, there is just the one user account (my Administrator account) and the guest account is deactivated... However, when I try and use the install disk that came with my new Canon printer, it says I don't have permission to open the CD, and I must log in as the administrator if I want to access the files on the disk. (I'm using the external Mac disk drive)

I've tried everything I can think of including checking all the permissions in Disk Utility... Everything looks normal, but I still can't open/run the disk.

Anyone have any ideas!?!

P.S- Disk worked on my MacBook Pro without issue.

You may want to try enabling the root user (superuser), log out of your admin account, and login to root in order to install the CD. Then possibly install the software to all accounts. Follow the steps for OS X Lion:

The disc is of no use to you. Any software you need should be downloaded automatically when you add the printer in the Printers & Scanners preference pane.

Unless you have issues unrelated to the disc, the contents of the disc are defective or incompatible. It's a fairly common problem with third-party installers.
