Q: Can we have a way to change the default behaviour

At least twice a day I accidentally hit the power button instead of the delete button. Since the upgrade to Mavericks this has led to nothing but frustration, and half the time my computer won't resume afterwards, forcing me to hard reboot and lose data.

What exactly happens when you can't recover from pressing the power button?

    Linc:

I've got a MacBook Air open and connected to a 27" external screen (dual dvi via lightning port).  The keyboard on the Air is my main keyboard.  When I accidentally hit the power button the following happens:

    1. Both screens immediately go black.
    2. Exernal screen reactivates.
    3. I can move my cursor for about 2 seconds, maybe Cmd+Tab.
    4. Everything freezes up.  At this point, the MacBook Air keyboard is still lit and the Apple logo on the back of the Air is still lit. Keyboard and mouse input don't do anything.
    5. Closing the Air, or disconnecting all devices from the Air and waiting don't seem to do anything.
    6. Only solution is a hard reboot (holding down power for 5 seconds).

All of that for missing the Delete key by about 3mm.

Does the same thing happen with the external display disconnected?
