Q: iOS 7 iMessage won't activate

My iMessage & FaceTime won't work after I updated to iOS 7. Just says waiting to activate. Anyway I can fix this?

    Im honestly not sure if what i actually did had any effect to getting it resolved but the only thing i have done for the last week was send a very long email directly to Tim Cook late in the evening and this morning i woke up and it was activated... Conincidence maybe

    This is very frustrating. I just got a brand new iPhone 5S and I can send messages from my email address but not from my phone number. Never had any issues like this on my iPhone 5. Uch.

    I spent almost 2 hours with apple last night. We reset and restored from itunes. that did not work. we erased and restored form icloud and it finally worked. I was minus all apps that were not intitially on the ipad and lots of pictures. This is after I backed up everything.
    When I have had a problem with Apple, it has always been a pain in the !!!!!! I have spent more time trying to figure out the issues than I have using the stupid things, iphone and ipad. This icloud and backup crap is for the birds.

    Very disappointed in both at this point

    Well today, my other iPhone 5 has now stopped show my number as being active.  Saying 'Waiting for activation' or 'Activation Unsuccessful' !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  It is unchecked but still there.  I deliberately did not update the 5 from iOS 6.1.4 as I wanted to avoid the current issues but it is now effecting everything.

    Bermuda

     

    On the 4 updated to iOS 7.0.4 now getting the error message again 'An error occurred during activation. Try again.'  Will this never end!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I have a 5c - same scenario, asking me for my password and not activating imessage.  I went to settings, general, reset, then reset Network settings, this fixed it for me!

    No luck   The only good thing on the iPhone 4 is that the number even though UNCHECKED is showing again.  Guess that is a forward step with the iPhone 4.  But now that the iPhone 5 is having the same issues, were it was working fine yesterday is really upsetting.  It is the only way that I communicate with my family overseas  Not sure if I should update the iPhone 5 to 7.0.4 or not.  Do not want to make matters worse.

    Yup, but have not heard back from the L2 Tech since October 28th! Sent emails and left messages but no response.  Suggestions?

    Interesting my case manager was based in singapore and always replied even if he didnt have an update. I can only suggest that you go on live chat or call the general apple care line and get it escalated.... I find it very strange that he doesnt get back to you.

    Me too!  Never had that from Apple Care before, so am guessing he is on vacation.  So can not be to cross.  Sent another email and left another message this evening.  We will see.  Will keep you posted. 

     

    Is everything still going okay at your end with iM and FT?

    Do you know if your case manager escalted to apple engineering? Originally my case got logged with engineering who then contacted me to install debugging profiles for imessage/facetime activation... Which i then sent to them for assesment. Happy to share the email i received from Apple Engineering in Texas.

     

    So far so good on my end still activated and working fine...

    Nope, just at L2Tech.  I am waiting for a call back now from a new L2.  Hopefully that will work.  If not I would be happy to take you up on your offer of the email.

     

    So glad that it has worked out.  I wondering if it is filtering down as I now have unchecked numbers were I had no number even listed before.
