Nov 23, 2013 10:21 AM in response to Tauhid73Kby Old Toad,But that will result is a low resolution version (640 x 1136 pixels for an iPhone 5s) which won't be of much use other than viewing on a screen.

Apr 10, 2014 8:35 AM in response to swandyby Steve Trewick,The way this works is that iOS doesn't actually apply the filter to the photo. Rather, it stores a set of meta data along with the photo detailing a list of cropping and filtering operations you have performed on it. When you access the pgoto via iOS apps, they are accessed via an API which applies the filter on the fly.
When you import to iPhoto, however, you're getting the file off the filesyetem, e.g. the raw original. Possibly new versions of iPhoto can read the data and apply the filters, but certainly the version I use on my mac couldn't, so I wrote an app to save out the filtered photos so that they can be imported in bulkj via iPhoto. It's called Phoreal, and you can download it from the app store at http://appstore.com/phoreal
I may receive some form of compensation, financial or otherwise, from my recommendation or link. <Edited by Host>
