Nov 22, 2013 1:05 PM in response to Ben4321by Frozo,You may be on to something there...? My wife has 4S and I have 5 (both on iOS7). But still seems like server issue stuff to me.

Nov 22, 2013 1:06 PM in response to word2uby Ben4321,i would guess its ios 7 bugs (ios 7.1 is a major update and primarily is for bug fixes with a few few new features.). this is not working for me, and im hoping if it doesnt work after i reinstal on both me and my buddies iphone that 7.1 will fix it. i hear from this forum ios 7 has some problems with background georeferencing. Apple is probably aware and usually release updates in a timely manner to fix the bugs. however the 4s isnt the greatest now.

Nov 22, 2013 1:09 PM in response to word2uby jw154j,Are the ones that "are" working on iOS 7.x or on an earlier version, because the issues only happen on iOS 7.x devices.
When you set a "when leaving" geotag notification from your device does the location arrow stay illuminated, but only as an outlined icon? If not, then either a setting is being missed or the FMF app is being closed. The instant you close the app the tracking stops and won't start back up unless the app is reopened. Also, I have noticed that if "frequent locations" in "system services" location settings is turned off then the location icon for FMF stops illuminating, and stops it's notifications.
Can you receive geo notifications from the "reminders" app for places you are arriving/leaving from? If not then the next step is to reset "location and privacy" in settings. That should fix any issues as long as the other requirements are being met.

Nov 23, 2013 5:29 PM in response to word2uby buzzdriver,I've had this problem for some time now but was able to get it fixed and now works perfectly with alerts and sound!
Here's what I did,..
Delete app from device(hold down app icon until jiggles then push little x, it'll ask you and YES is your answer)
Hold both Home button and Sleep button until Apple logo appears, release to restart device,..
Go to app store icon on device, lower right push Updates, then push Purchased,..find Find My Friends,..
push little cloud with down arrow icon on right,....
it'll reinstall Find My Friends app,...
Now this should come up at some point,..
Pop up that'll ask you if you would like Push notifications, badges and alerts,.. answer YES!!
This is critical for this app to work,.. if you only get popup that asks to use your current location then it will not work.
This worked for me,.. you must get the notification request anytime you delete the app or restart the device or do a complete erase and reinstall of device. It took me three days to get it to work!! Now works perfectly after about three months. Oh yeah, check Privacy settings and make sure Find My Friends is toggled green.
Reply if works so others may try it out.
Peace

Nov 23, 2013 8:58 PM in response to word2uby Frozo,As far as I know, all that alert does is override the notifications for the app. You can always go into Settings>Notification Center and turn on your alerts manually there.

Nov 23, 2013 8:59 PM in response to word2uby buzzdriver,Try a complete erasure of phone then set up as new, only use Apple ID password when requested.
Also make sure when looking through your Apple ID info that you have the right type and amount of devices. Erase any that seem odd or extra. This you can fine on iTunes on account settings.

Nov 23, 2013 9:06 PM in response to buzzdriverby Frozo,I really cant imagine this would ever fix this particular problem. Restoring an iPhone is virtual snake oil in most cases like these in my experience. I cringe at the idea of restoring an iPhone considering how long it takes to get it back up and running (for a full 64GB iPhone anyway). I honestly believe this is a software and/or server issue. Ive gotten it to work and then it just doesnt again. There doesnt seem to be any real fix--and as one person posted, this is a problem that Apple apparently knows about and is currently working with users to figure out why its not working. Id just wait for an update, Im sure Apple with fix this in the relatively near future.

Nov 23, 2013 9:11 PM in response to Frozoby buzzdriver,Before I was able to notify my Friends when I would arrive at a point but could not be notified of Friends arriving or leaving. Seems more of a problem with my notification setup in my device. Whatever I did it now functions well, seeing others locations as wellas mine and no issues. It now automatically updates the Friends location after leaving the previous geofence and correctly inserts the new location,..ready for the next geofence.

Nov 23, 2013 9:23 PM in response to buzzdriverby Frozo,Well glad it's working for you. It really is a head scratcher though. Am I the only one who remembers using FMF and being able to watch someone literally move along a highway in nearly real time? This just does not happen any more... not in on my iPhone, iPad or wife's iPad (it stopped doing this before iOS7, BTW, which makes me think it is server-related and not an iOS7 bug).
Currently, Im lucky if I get the location of a friend right away. If I do, it shows me their current location but does not show their movement--I have to use the refresh button (which only has an effect about 2% of the time) to see their updated location (but still, it will never "follow" them anymore). Usually the quickest option is to force quit the app and find your friend again for the updated location.
In any case, something is very wrong with the way the locations are being refreshed, IMO. Maybethey removed this "follow" feature to save battery power, but I believe this has something to do with the geofencing alert issue.

Nov 23, 2013 9:27 PM in response to Frozoby buzzdriver,When I am following Friends I cannot see them move down the road, never have but I can see me moving on my little map. Connections to the internet are critical to this whole FMF thingee, I expect issues to show up now and then. Also now my refresh rate is every couple minutes for Friend locations.
