    So, by your logic...

If I rob a bank and send a note saying I will send some of the money back at an unspecified later date...

    ... I didnt rob the bank. ^^

There is nothing in Apple's announcement about categories being returned, and even if there was - it doesnt excuse removing features that people use with ZERO warning.

I have been very happy with Apple products for a long time, but this is just bullsh**, and I wont take much of it.

Looks like that thread was deleted/locked or otherwise screwed with before I could post on it.

Shame after you invested the time to make that table

    Hi madmanuk,

Maybe you can look at it this way.

Nothing has been taken away from you. Numbers 2.3 works as well as ever.

Numbers 3.0 was free of charge and you don't have to use if you don't want (though you'll want to use it if you work on other platforms too).

If you're interested in working with it and perhaps even helping your fellow users here, see the features gained, features lost, and workarounds threads.

You're right, it was pulled at 3:44 pm EST.

I thought it might stand long enough to get some sense of where the most pain is, but clearly the Hosts are working the weekend. I wonder if they will pull my chart off iCloud too.

That's too bad. I thought it was a great idea.

Or I could look at it this way.

Apple did something stupid, with no warning, and are surpressing debate about it.

    Hi madmanuk,

Yes I suppose there are always those who prefer to focus entirely on the negative ...

There are some real productivity enhancements in the new version to go along with the warts.

This was a flawed introduction of a new product, but hardly something stupid.

I'm puzzled by arguments that a company should have given more warning that it is going to give away an innovative new product for free.  That just doesn't make sense.

I (and probably a lot of other people here, not just Apple) view these support communities as a place for users to help other users.

There are those who will accept shoddy goods and poor customer service.

It would appear that you are one of them.

    I am not.

It is good to hear that you are a person of high standards. You expect perfection even in things you don't pay for.

I find Numbers 3 a big productivity enhancement. It's light years ahead of Numbers 2 in cross-platform use, is being actively developed, and I'm hoping is going to continue to improve.

Of course it is possible to be a person of high standards and, instead of complaining, maybe even try to help others when things aren't perfect.

    MM,

A couple of threads that I recall posting into this morning don't seem to include my posts anymore, but the only email of explanation I received from the Hosts was about violating the TOU with the thread I started. Maybe I just can't find the right threads. There is so much activity that it's easy to lose track.

I think my heart is in the right place, and I would resent any implication that I am focusing on the negative with this attempt to guide Apple to a better place. I don't think they realize how this little software suite could impact their sales of hardware and their overall standing with the customer base. I think they pulled my thread on a technicality, the survey thing. Hopefully I won't be going the way of YK. I don't know what I would do with the free time.
