I have a problem with iTunes store on my iPad.

It crashes at random places, but I found one way to make it crash every time in a reproducible manner.

First I start up iTunes store. I can force-close it first but that doesn't seem to make a difference.

Then, once it has started (and hasn't crashed) i go to the Films section and wait for that to load. If it still hasn't crashed (it sometimes to when switching to the Films section) I touch the icon for the "Now you see me" movie that is displayed on the "New & Noteworthy" line below the main headlines.

If it still hasn't crashed, I touch the trailer play icon. The trailer starts playing, I can hear about 1 second of sound from it, and then it drops back to the springboard, without fail, every time.

I've tried turning off and on again the iPad, i've tried signing out of iTunes and the app store on the unit, I've tried closing all other apps, still crashes at the same spot every time. I'm a bit loath to do a full reset and restore of everything without knowing that it will fix it so I'm hoping someone else has some tip I can try.

Details:

  • iPad mini with retina, Wifi + Cellular
  • iOS 7.0.4
  • English language, norwegian region format
  • 8.5GB free storage (according to Settings->General->Usage)

I found one thing to fiddle with that reduced, but did not remove, the chance that it crashes, and that was to disable 4G (reduced some) and then disable cellular (reduced a bit more). With cellular off it seems to crash every 2-3 times I try to play that trailer, but it still crashes at random times throughout the iTunes store app.

Are others experiencing this? Is there something else to fiddle with that might improve the chance of the app working better?
