Nov 15, 2012 10:24 AM in response to garcherby turingtest2,iTunes does not yet officially support Windows 8. For some it works, others not. Perhaps iTunes 11 will work for when it is released later this month (hopefully).

Nov 22, 2013 7:01 PM in response to turingtest2by Di4Nea,Oh good grief! Hard drive crashed, had to buy a new computer, and now I don't even have any music! Come on, Apple, get on this, will ya?? What good is an iCloud backup with no iTunes to access it? Call me .... "not impressed"....

Nov 26, 2013 2:57 PM in response to Di4Neaby turingtest2,It is supposed to, assuming you meet the requirements:
Windows System Requirements
- PC with a 1GHz Intel or AMD processor and 512MB of RAM
- Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later, 32-bit editions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
- 64-bit editions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 require the iTunes 64-bit installer
- 400MB of available disk space
- Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store
A year ago, when this thread was opened, it wasn't explicitly supported.

Nov 26, 2013 3:58 PM in response to Di4Neaby turingtest2,Perhaps iTunes isn't yet compatiable with Windows 8.1. What error message, if any, do you get when you try to install/run it?

Nov 26, 2013 5:14 PM in response to turingtest2by CRMDVM,Windows 8.1 works with iTunes but it enables IPV6 connectivity in Network Connections - the latest update of iTunes doesn't like this - it removes the Airplay icons among other things - the fix is to uncheck IPV6 in properties - to access this, open Network and Sharing in Control Panel - click on your network connection in the middle on the right under view your active networks - click on properties in the lower left hand corner and uncheck IPV6 connectivity - unless you have a specific need for IPV6, this won't cause any other issues - most ISP's don't use IPV6 yet - try this and then try to re-install iTunes - it may take a few tries- it worked for me but it may not solve your problem.
Regards,
Charlie
