That is not a feature of any iOS device. You can not connect from one iPhone to an iPad using bluetooth to send or exchange files. You can't do that from iPhone to iPhone or even iPad to iPad. Don't waste your time trying.

There is nothing wrong with the devices, this is just how Apple has designed them since 2007. Don't look for this to change.

Well is this policy new then? I could make connection on my iPad3 with an iPhone (4?) of a colleage 1 year ago or so. It was in the memory of the bluetooth.

But now I got my own brandnew 5s, I have two spinners on both my devices.  ^$$%%#$

BTW If you can't bluetooth between devices what use is it then?

It's the way it has always been with iPhones since 2007 and nothing has changed since then.

Bluetooth on iOS devices (iPhones/iPads/iPods) can be used for:

Playing music to a bluetooth capable car stereo

Making hands free phone calls using a bluetooth headset or car stereo

Tethering to a computer through the computers bluetooth to share the phones internet connection

    Thx that worked!

Haven't thought of that yet, it seemed so logical to be able to connect.

    Hi Drimbo

To the best of my knowledge the operational functionality of bluetooth is restricted where it is used for connecting bluetooth keyboard, trackpad, magic mouse and also with bluetooth head-set that on the high end side for instances Bose.

Whenever it comes to things what you have specifically queries why don't you try out Air Play functionalities and please do check the videso at macmost.com as it is a very userful link for getting your issues clarified with greater personal attention. Hope you found this useful.

    With Kind Regards JM

I call BS n this post. You can pair a BT keyboard with an iDevice, I'm using one right now.

You are correct that you cannot use a mouse, trackpad, etc., but that has nothing to do with Bluetooth it has to do with the iOS design which does not have a cursor.

And the Bluetooth on iDevices and the iPod Nano will pair with no problem to high-end BT headphones such as Ultimate Ears, Sennheiser, etc. They also work fine with mid-level BT headphones like Bose.

I have a Hyundai genesis coupe 2013 3.8 . My 5C iPhone doesn't seem to pair up or connect. When I try to search in pairing there is no listing of my phone either, even though my 5c bluetooth is on. Can anyone help  me on getting around this? I really need my hands free on my car back.

In the car's system settings delete any existing pairings to any iPhones or other iDevices. Then put the car into Discovery Mode. On the phone go to Settings/Bluetooth. after 10-20 seconds you should see the car's BlueTooth on the phone. Tap the Connect button. If this doesn't work try resetting the car's system to factory default.

I have this same issue with my Iphone5s.  For 2 years I have been able to connect my Ipad2 via bluetooth to my Iphone4s and Shared Internet connection this way , for me it is way better to use the Hot Spot via Bluetooh as it will remain connected for as long as I want, using internet sharing via WI-FI decreases battery charge way faster and it keeps disconnecting. When using Bluetooth on Iphone4s I get stable connection all the time and I only needed to go straight to my Ipad bluetooth and connect, with Wifi I have to Open Hot Spot on Iphone and  then Open the Ipad's wifi connections and selected it. It was way easier via bluetooth.

I just got a VW Golf Sportscombi, picked up today.

I have one iPhone 4s for work, with a Microsoft exhange accont on (everything; contacts, email and so on). This one works perfectly fine with the infotainment system.

My private iPhone 5 does not work as good. It gets disconected every 10-30 sec. This one is also connected to the exhange account except for the contacts.

I solved this by going on to the private one: Settings - Bluetooth - Info button on the cars name -

There you'll find a list with a few check boxes. I unchecked the box with "sync all contacts" and everything worked just fine. Strange, but it works.

Both phones runs on the latest iOS 7

Hello, I want to connect an iPhone 5 and a computer. I found and added each device on each but can't get them connected. The iPhone says "make sure the computer is turned on and in range". I have put the iPhone on the computer to make the distances shortest possible but without success for connection.... What to do?
