Nov 28, 2013 11:09 AM in response to Marlxby Bob Timmons,So, you are saying that you are trying to configure the Express to connect to your existing network wirelessly......or are you connecting to your wireless router using a wired Ethernet cable connection?
If you open AirPort Utility, click the AirPort Utility menu in the upper left corner of the screen and then click on About AirPort Utility......what version number do you see?

Nov 28, 2013 11:50 AM in response to Marlxby Bob Timmons,I'm sure that you know the name of the wireless network and password, but there is a third critical element involoved in getting the AirPort to join the network correctly, and that is that you must know the type of wireless security setting that your wireless router is using for the network.
In other words, the AirPort Express will not join the network unless 3 conditions are met:
1) Correct name of the network is entered
2) Correct password for the network is entered
3) An exact match of the wireless security settings is entered
It is 3) that causes the most trouble for users by far. They enter the wireless network name and pasword, but neglect the security settings.
Do you know the exact type of wireless security that your network is using? If not, you may need to refer to the documentation or ask your ISP if they provided the wireless router to you.
Post back with that information, and we will proceed.

Nov 28, 2013 12:19 PM in response to Marlxby Bob Timmons,Security settings would be something like the following examples:
WPA/WPA2 Personal
WPA2 Personal
WPA-PSK-TKIP
WPA2-PSK-AES
WEP 128
WEP 64 or 40
You may have to contact your ISP to be able to locate the settings that your router is using.

Nov 28, 2013 12:38 PM in response to Bob Timmonsby Marlx,Ahh ok i have seen this while setting up, i will have a further look. thank you

Nov 28, 2013 12:42 PM in response to Marlxby Bob Timmons,Hopefully, they are not WEP settings, but post back when you find them.
The trick will be to find a matching setting for the AirPort Express since not all manufacturers use the same terminology.
Wireless is never easy.

This indicates that the AirPort Express still does not have the matching settings that it needs to join the wireless network correctly.
If you could provide the exact wireless security settings that you found on your router, I might be able to come up with another idea.
After that, about all that you can do is try different settings to see if one might work. It's a tedious process at best, unfortunately with no assurance of success.
Unfortunately, the Express sometimes is just not compatible with routers from other manufacturers. That may be the issue here.
