    You cannot do anything .

If you are referring to activation lock ( Apple.id )then without the original Apple.id the iPhone will never function

It is the ultimate anti theft solution

    No Apple.id iPhone  is useless

You must have the Apple ID & Password to bypass the Activation Lock.

The only other solution is if you have the original proof of purchase of the device.  If so, then you can contact Apple Support for assistance.  They MIGHT be able to help you.

    I wouldn't count on it

Apple can use the receipt to verify the legal owner of the device (this only works for the original purchaser; not for anyone that buys an iPhone second-hand).  It's a painstaking process, and takes a few days, but they can bypass the Activation Lock once you provide all the documentation they require.

How does a person in posession of a user locked device access this service?  Is this done throught the Apple Store or through AppleCare?

IF you bought it 2nd hand; then that process would not be for you....That would need the /ORIGINAL/ purcchase of the device, and if it's at that point ....why not just ask the original purchaser.

And I'd believe applecare would be the method to go, don't take my word for it though with a few grains of salt

My bad, I skipped over that.  Sometimes when the subject is so convoluted, I miss little details like that.

Yeah, if this is a second-hand phone, there's no option available.  It's permanently locked.

The easiest thing to do is just put in the Apple ID & Password.  But, if that doesn't work for some reason, try www.icloud.com and remove the device from the account in Find My iPhone.  Even if FMiP is turned off on the device, it can still show on www.icloud.com.

Otherwise, the process I described has to go through AppleCare.  The store level can't do it.

reading the original post is quite important if you plan to respond and help the poster

something I learnt a while back

and have you noticed the reasons for getting round activation lock are becoming more bizarre

With the broken English of the post, I think I just assumed that he meant something else.  Oh, well.

But I agree, the 'reasons' for trying to bypass Activation Lock are getting weirder...
