Q: iMac in about this Mac shows as a G4
A couple of years ago, I upgraded from Snow Leopard on my iMac to Lion only to realize that most of my software was not compatible (didn't do my research). I hadn't backed my hard drive up before upgrading (shame on me). I still had my G4 so I transferred everything from that computer over to my iMac and now am back to Snow Leopard. Problem is that in About this Mac, it's showing as a G4 not an iMac. My question is, if I upgrade to Mavericks (no longer need all that software) will my iMac show as an iMac or will it still show as a G4? If this is the case, is there any way of changing it?
Also, I purchased a portable external hard drive and have backed up my hard drive to it. (I do learn from my mistakes). Problem is when access my Startup disk so I could try to reboot from the external, the drive is not showing up. Can anyone help me with this as well?
Would you recommend downloading Lion again and then going to Mavericks or is it okay to go directly to Mavericks?
Thanks so much!
iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)
