I would be AMAZED if HP had drivers that were ready for Mavericks only 2 months after its release. More like 2 years is typical.
Any particular reason why you installed the drivers from HP's web site? Mavericks ships with HP drivers; did you try them first?

Thank you very much for yotur quick response!
My printer works perfectly.
Opening Print and Scan and removing and reinstalling my printer I get this version 2.0 and not 19.9.
The problem is that this version 2.0 lacks a lot of print options, as e.g. manual duplex etc.

Get the latest version 2.16.1 of the HP software from the Apple Support website..

I think I do something fundamentally wrong.
I installed the relevant print divers from HP, removed the printer from Print and Scan and try to print a file from pages.
A form pops up and asks me to select a printer, my laser printer is prompted and selected it.
The same form changes into version 2.0 with the minimum of print options. However, I expected version 19.9 as recommended by Apple.
What am I doing wrong?

Have you tried with the OS X built-in drivers instead of the ones from the HP site? OS X normall comes with drivers for most common printers and will install the recommended and supported drivers automatically. Installing anything from HP will just screw stuff up.

I have found that many of the Drivers that Apple installs are lacking full HP printer options. I have always had to install the drivers from the HP site (if available) to have full function.

I removed evrything of HP or Hewlett Packard from my computer. When I install my printer from the OS X built-in drivers it selects driver version 2.0 instead of 19.9! This this version 2.0 lacks a lot of print options, as manual duplex.

I had trouble finding drivers with options from Apple and HP for my older LaserJet. I tried these and now have options for my printer for amount of RAM, etc.
I have used them with Lion and Mavericks

When I have loaded and installed the most recent special Mavericks driver for my HP-laser printer from HP and if I want to print a file, I am always forced to select my printer in 'Print and Scan'. This loads driver version 2.0 in stead of 19.9, as recommended by Apple. Is this correct?

It is amazing that nobody could give an answer to my latest question.
It was very simple and the solution came from HP. Open Print and Scan, add printer, select the wireless printer and choose the driver from the list in 'User > Select software>'. Ready!
I overlooked this last option.
