Dec 4, 2013 9:27 AM in response to bodonnellby a brody,10.5.7 is not the latest version of 10.5. You can get more current security updates for 10.5 by updating to 10.5.8
and then applying the security updates on http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1222 for 10.5.
and repairing permissions. This minimizes potential compatibility issues, while giving you the most stable version
of 10.5. That said, make sure if you are using a non-Apple router, that its firmware is current for 10.5.8. Also if you are using wireless, that you at least use WPA2 encryption on a closed network. If you don't someone else could be slowing your wireless network down trying to share it.
Upgrading to 10.6 and above can help for some software, but there are various compatibility issues you need to be aware of before even going down that path.

Dec 4, 2013 11:37 AM in response to bodonnellby rkaufmann87,★HelpfulOK, does the issue only occur when you are watching TV online? If it does then contact the developer of the tool you are using to use your iMac as a TV. The issue may be the that the app isn't intended to run on Mavericks 10.9, in that case you need to work with the developer to see if they have an update for Mavericks in the works.
