1. Have you optimised the media?
2. Is the vision on a quick enough drive?

I haven't changed anything since my last project, which went off without a hitch. I have had troubles with my drive in FCPX before, but once I re-formatted it to the correct setting I haven't had other issues. It's a Seagate 1 TB external hard drive and my Macbook is actually 10.8.5, by the way.

Is the vision from the same camera?
Is the vision optimised? If so try deleting the optimised media files and re-optimising, if not try optimising it.
Does the timeline match the format of the vision and or does it require rendering. (if the vision has been rendered, try deleting the render files and re-rendering)
Let us know how you go.

The video is from the same camera as all of my other projects (JVC 100), but since it is a partner project, another girl filmed it (she has had no issues). My hard drive crashed on the 6th, and prior to that FCPX would not open while it was connected, but had no problem opening without the drive. I think it's safe to assume that it was my hard drive causing all of the problems, but I'm going to go in and ask an Apple employee if there is anything else that I can do to prevent this from happening in the future.
Thanks for all of your help.
