Q: restoring to a new ssd via timemachine but i have a newer os than received with my macbook pro late 2011 13"
Hello,
I want to upgrade my hardrive to a crucual 480 gb m500 ssd drive.
Now about 3 months ago all my system crashed while doing a software update and when I took it to the computer shop for data recovery
the OS that the guy installed is 10.7.5 (11G63) which is newer than mine or I dont know what it is because on the apple website it said I should have got 10.7.2 or 10.7.3
(I only had a timmachine backup of 2 months old yes I know my fault I now backup daily although quite annoying that the system just crashed after a software update. I am really scared to do a software update since then)
I dont have a disc for my original OS but I think it is supposed to be somwhere on the system itself isnt it?
My question is to save time in cloning and things and getting a new usb to sata cable I am just thinking of restoring my whole system from my latest timemachine backup so just take out my curent hard disc and put the SSD in and then boot from time mahine.
Will I be able to restore or will I need to install the OS once again and if so will this effect on anything because the operating system that I assume I can get access to is older than what I currentley got with this mac, or will this not matter and I will just be given the restore option from time machine to my new ssd and it will install the OS and everything basiclly put my computer to how it is now?
Hope I made myself clear, and many thanks to those who will reply!
Mac OS X (10.7.5)
