I just did the latest update for safari, Itunes, etc., last night.  Now Safari crashes all the time.  Any solutions out there?

The next time Safari crashes copy and paste the entire crash report in your Reply.

That should reveal what the problem is.

You can reformat (erase) the startup disk but all your important files will be deleted.

If you post a crash report, we'd be happy to try and help you sort this out.

    Remove Glims.

Avast is probably not helping you have a proper Mac experience either. Producers of Windows AV software pitching the same stuff to Mac users borders on fraud. Remove it--let OSX protect as Apple designed it.

    How do I uninstall Glims? | www.MacHangout.com

The developer acknowledges a problem, & suggests updating or removal - There have been lots of threads here where crashes were solved by uninstalling.

Yes. Definitely remove Avast from your Mac >   How to completely uninstall avast! Free Antivirus from a PC or Mac | How to | Softonic

Glims is running fine on my Mac running v10.9 Mavericks with Safari 7 but I too have seen issues wtih Glims on Macs running v10.7.5. It only takes a minute to uninstall then reinstall to test.

As far as security goes, you can prevent malware by making sure Gatekeeper is enabled.

Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy then select the General tab.

Make sure either Mac App Store or Mac App Store and identified developers is selected. If that area is grayed out, click the padlock icon to proceed.
