Q: New phone photo recovery

I recently got a new iPhone 5S.  Before I turned in my 4, I synced my photos to my phone.  Now none of them are in the iCloud.  How can I recover my old photos?

iPhone 5s, iOS 7

Did you restore the backup of your iPhone 4 to your 5s?  That will include your camera roll photos, as well as text messages, apps and other purchased media, app data, settings, etc.

Yes...before I turned in the 4 I did sync both my iTunes and my iCloud.  But now both when I access the cloud on my new 5s and the computer there are no pictures.  All the apps synced.

Backing up and restoring an iCloud backup, and syncing with iCloud are two different things?

Did you back up your iPhone 4 to iCloud?

If so, did you restore this backup to your iPhone 5s?

Thank you for this clarification!  How do I restore my old iCloud backup from my 4 on my 5s?  I don't see that option under settings

To restore an iCloud backup you have to erase the phone and choose this option from the setup assistant.  Go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings, then go through the setup screens on your phone and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud backup and follow the prompts, choosing the backup of your iPhone 4 to restore from.  Be sure you phone is connected to wifi and your charger as it is restoring the backup.

Note: The 5s has to be running the same or higher version of iOS as your iPhone 4 was in order to restore the backup.  (You can check in Settings>General>About>Version.)  If it isn't, you'll have to update it first.
