Q: Mac Pro (Early 2008) not recognizing 4 new memory Modules
Help Please.
I have a :
Mac Pro (8-core Xeon 5400 Series) 2nd Gen. Early 2008
I installed 2 pair of:
Crucial Technology CT2CP51272AP80E 8 GB (4 GBx2) Apple Specific DDR2 PC2-6400 CL=5 Fully Buffered ECC DDR2-800 1.8V 512Meg x 72 Memory Kit
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00157YNNM/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&p sc=1
Upper:
Slot 1: Original 1GB Memory
Slot 2: Original 1GB Memory
Slot 3: New 4GB Memory Module
Slot 4: New 4GB Memory Module
Lower:
Slot 1: New 4GB Memory Module
Slot 2: New 4GB Memory Module
Slot 3: <empty>
Slot 4: <empty>
I fired up the computer, it still only reads 2GB total memory and in profiler says slots that son't have the original 1GB modules in them, are blank.
I also tried removing the old 1GB modules and putting all new one sin slots 1 & 2, top and bottom, and the Mac wouldn't even mac the Mac sound when powered on. Anyone seen this before? The merchant says I have the right memory, is this true?
Its bizzare that not one of the new modules shows up right..?
I seated them down firmy, they clicked and the sid things came up...

Hardware diagnosis need to be very methodical and precise to be able to draw conclusions. You need to test the smallest subsets and build up to larger and larger sets.
Please summarize very precisely what setup(s) you have tried, and which do and which do not work.
