when I try to update my apps on the ipad the box that pops up has the wrong apple ID in it and I can not change it no matter what I do.  I have re set the info in the settings and when viewed there the info is correct.  When I get into the app store I still get the wrong ID no matter what I do... anyone have any suggestions

    ThisisdannyVega ,

This is by far the best solution I've found.

Deleting apps in iTunes, sign out then sign back in with updated AppleID, redownloading apps and drag them to iPhone is "better" than simply signing out and signing back in with updated AppleID?

    How is it better?

My issue is slightly different than the original issue posted, as I work with very large volumes of iPhones that need to be backed up. The apps were being backed up to iTunes. I didn't realize that those apps, even though free, would still be attached to the apple id that originally downloaded it. When I restored a different device, iTunes recognized that, let's say "facebook" was on the device. Instead of having the device redownload "facebook" using the correct apple id, it would restore the app backed up to computer, which was associated with the wrong apple id. The problem was when the customer was notified to update an app, they were propted to enter the password to a different apple id; the apple id that originally downloaded the app. In most cases the apple id seemed to be completely random. But deleting the app directly from the phone and redownloading using the correct apple id is the best solution that I've found.

How were you transferring apps from customers phones to your computer? Did they give you their AppleID & Password? (which is needed to copy the apps to your computer)

A backup does not contain any apps. And to get the apps back onto the phone, your computer needs to be aurthorized for that AppleID.

When I restored a different device, iTunes recognized that, let's say "facebook" was on the device. Instead of having the device redownload "facebook" using the correct apple id, it would restore the app backed up to computer, which was associated with the wrong apple id.

So th eapps were most likely from a previous customer.

    Gotcha.

iTunes always prompts me to back up purchases and apps. Never needed apple id to do so. Doesn't matter though, because I won't be backing apps up any longer. I just have the customer go to App store/updates/purchased to redownload missing apps. Works like a charm. And, it clears up space on the device so it runs better.

    Does it?

Or does it tell you to back up iPhone?

how to remove icloud id for active iphone

If the device has already been erased

If the device has already been erased, but is still linked to the previous owner’s account, you will be prompted for the previous owner’s Apple ID and password during the device setup and activation process (shown below).

Thank You This is dannyVega!  This fix was pretty easy, and it finally worked after trying some of the other fixes.  For SOME reason, my wife's OLD iTunes account showed up on an app downloaded back in 2011 on my iPhone.  It then became stuck on stupid since she bought her new iPhone 5s in December, 2013.

Yay!  I can finally go do something else.

So, I've read a bit above.. I have a similar issue with managing apps that have been installed under another user id.

I manage my own Apple IDs fine as I know the passwords to them

BUT, There are a couple of Apps that were installed using user IDs for which I do not, nor can I ever get the passwords for.

How can I delete these Apps and never again see updates for them that I can never install anyhow :-) ???
