zelous,
I'm pretty sure you don't need an unlocked phone, as Sprint has partners that you can use to roam on their networks. My friend has Sprint and travels all around the world and has coverage even without an unlocked phone.

Dec 12, 2013 2:19 PM in response to zelousby Psyco83,I'm sorry but what do you exactly mean? Does the Ipad Mini Retina branded Sprint have the Lte/Gsm chip compatible with all the networks? Both USA and Europe?

Dec 12, 2013 2:23 PM in response to Psyco83by Compukid,The Sprint SIM is compatible with only the networks that have a contract with Sprint. This works in all of the countries listed at http://www.sprint.com/popups/pop-gprsCarriers.html

Dec 12, 2013 2:29 PM in response to Compukidby Psyco83,I'm sorry probably I didn't explain myself clearly. My question is: Can I change SIM card and use a different sim from another carrier if I purchased the Ipad Mini Retina branded Sprint??

Dec 12, 2013 2:35 PM in response to Psyco83by Compukid,Yes, but that may be more expensive than roaming because you may have to buy a plan from the carrier as well.

Dec 12, 2013 4:32 PM in response to Psyco83by deggie,You do not have to worry about unlocking your iPad to use it with other cell providers, iPads in the US are not locked. The only carrier you would not be able to use your mini with would be Verizon in the US. For all other carriers you just need to get an iPad compatible nanoSIM from whatever carrier you plan to use. Whether you can get LTE speeds depends on the cell provider.
