Q: Dell 1350cnw on Mavericks

Hi, has anyone managed to get a Dell 1350cnw colour laser printer working on Mavericks? - John.

iMac (27-inch, Late 2013), OS X Mavericks (10.9)

I can install the driver under Mavericks but when I send a print it does not print and the printer display says "Cancelling Job ...".

You can check the logs in Console, including the CUPS log, to see if there is anything related to the print job.

You could also try the generic ppd if the steps in the above thread didn't work.

Under cups, the access_log has . . .

Thought about trying Gutenprint - dowmloaded - but it dosen't appear to have instructions for instaling!

Did you download the dmg file? You should be able to just double click on it.

Hi, I have the dmg file and can mount it. I then have several files including . . .

file:///Volumes/Gutenprint%205.2.9/Install%20Gutenprint%205.2.9.mpkg/

. . . running this opens Pacifist - I'm then lost for the next step?

Try opening the dmg instead of mounting it. That should give you the .mpkg file in a Finder window. Opning that should launch Installer.

Hi, how do I "open" a dmg file without it mounting? Double clicking ie. mounting it, gives me the mpkg file in a finder window? - John.

It sounds like you've set up .dmg files to open with Disk Utility. In Finder, select the .dmg file, hold the control key down, and use the contextual menu to open the .dmg file with DiskImageMounter.

Sorted. Printer now working again.
DiskImageMounter is the default application for the dmg, but for some reason opening the mpkg file was in Pacifist although the default application is Installer!!! Now opened with Installer and working.

Just a quick addition to this thread.

I cured this problem, by simply turning off the printer for 30 seconds then rebooting it!!

I had trawled through this thread and many many more with no luck, until I was just about to hit the buy button on a new airprint printer, when the thought to reset the printer dawned on me.

Once the Dell had restarted, the printer showed up as an available printer, and I was good to go.

Big thanks to all the people on here with their many suggestions. Just though I'd share, in order to help someone in the same situation I was in.
