Q: black ipad screen wont turn on

OMG. IT WORKS. I cant even, I just literally beat my ipad to make it work.

Yep!  Gave it a couple of knocks on the back and it worked.  Not happy about it though.

Thank you, that did the trick. My battery was 100% charged. I was freaking out until I read your thread.

My daughter messaged me and said she was having a black screen issue.  She went to the apple store and was told $250.  She walked out, texted me, I read this forum, and told her to whack it 3 times.  It worked.  She walked back into the apple store to tell them!

Unbelievable!  I think Sandjam (or whatever his name was) should get a cut of the $250 she just saved!

whacking it didnt worked for me niether hold and press home and power  button... helllppppp!!!!!

I had same problem and all of a sudden ipad dont turn on with black screen. I whacked the ipad on the back but did not work. Then I whacked the ipad on the bottom where the charging port is, I threw it on a table with a medium force while holding it straight up with screen facing me and guess what, the ipad started working again. A logical explanation is that there is a problem with the graphics connection and once whacked in the right place the screen gets back to normal again.

Well hope this saves some ipad owners a lot of money as I am sure Apple would have charged you a lot of money to fix this.
