Q: Your Apple ID has been disabled!?

After I had to change my cc# due to a security breach, I can't down load new apps or update the old ones. I am logged onto iTunes, and apple with the new info, but iPad says- "your apple I D. has been disabled." yikes!

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Hello, I'm also interested about how you were able to do  so.

I've actually the same trouble (and in France), the account started by being disabled for security reason, so I had the support to help : changing the password wasn't enough, still complaining about the security questions I didn't remember correctly.

They checked a few thing, confirmed the ownership, and gladly reset the security question.

Everything went fine, but after logging off, then in the same day, I got the sole  "account disabled".

The support can't  do a thing about it, and clearly refuse to answer why, while I never had a mail about the reason it became disabled

    Hi Everyone,

I've have had this problem for a year. Was not able to download any aps or music, tv, or movies in iTunes and kept getting the "Apple ID disabled for security reasons". I finally got it fixed today!! Hallelujah!

You need to go to the web page

    https://getsupport.apple.com/ServiceOptionAction.action

Then you need to click on the "Talk to Apple Support Now"

At that point you put in your phone number and someone from support will call you back and then explain that your id is diabled and they WILL RESET IT!!

YOU NEED TO HAVE THEM RESET IT TO MAKE IT WORK!!

BTW, it took me a year to figure this out

My Apple ID is also disabled but when I go thru all the steps asked "go to Appleid.Apple.com click manage apple id, forgot password" etc... like you all have done. then I ask to if i want to click email to reset or if i wish to answer some security questions, i click email and never get a thing (nope not even in junk mail) so went back thru and picked answer security questions. well the first question is enter your birthday   month  day and 4 digit year.  I do that and I get invalid answer.   I got so frustrated and finally found Chris at customer service.  he managed to get me to delete my phone and get my computer to reload my apps.  however told me it would take couple of hours. so i decided go to bed and check in morning to find out they were still loading. so went to work, came home 9 hours later and yup  still loading..... the phone was full of black icons that you could do nothing with.  I am now waiting patiently for Jeremy to contact me with help. he tells me he is senior advisor but has to ask others to help. this is not priority so will take maybe 4 days.  is he going to be able to help or is this going no where? also does anyone else have this issue with invalid birthday for first question?  why is it a birthday. what happened to the questions i originally answered.  street i grew up on,  first pet name... and friend in school?

I am so sorry to bother everyone with my problem.  I was just so frustrated and waiting for help and reading all your comments made me upset.  I have great news though,  I solved my own issue with my phone.  I am so thrilled   I was able to enable my apple id by myself and change my email and password and now able to update my itunes and apps.   i kept searching around google.com for help and fell into a place   Support.Apple.com/kb/ht1311

and it walked me thru my problem and in a matter of minutes  my Phone is great again.... thank you sooo much.

Stop being a baby, it's called express not immediate. 24 hrs is pretty fast conisdering the reason your account is screwed up is because you disputed a charge, it's for YOUR security. If you don't like it, don't dispute charges without doing YOUR due dilligence.

Just saying its all screwed up because it doesnt say a specific reason, EVERYONE have tried what it says, and it doesnt work, so shut up or tell people the truth that apple is having major technical issues and they are not trying to fix it, and why? If it says the reason, it will work, but for most people here, it doesnt say the reason. If you let this continue you will lose more money, just saying. Believe me.

    I don't believe you. Why should I?

I'm not letting it continue (or not) and I'm not gonna lose anything over it.

    I don't work for Apple.

I had my credit card company disputed some itunes charges a few weeks ago. I found that my apple id got disabled after that. From a hindsight I think it is reasonable for Apple to disable my ID to protect against further fraudulent activities. I agree that it's been a frustrating experience to try to find an answer online by yourself, especially when you want to get something done quickly, such as transferring some apps to a new ipad. Anyway, today I reached out to Apple and got it resolved within 15 minutes. Here is what I did and hope it would help those in similar situation.

    1. From a browser (I used my xp pc), go to https://getsupport.apple.com

    2. Click See all products and services

    3. Click the huge Itunes icon

    4. Click Itunes Store

    5. Click Account Management

    6. Click Apple ID acocunt Security (on the left hand side)

    7. Type the message    your apple id has been disabled

    8. Click Continue

    9. Select United States (there is also Canada and Others)

    10. When you see  How would you like to get help? Choose a support option for your topic.

Click Talk to Apple Support Now

    11. Enter pone number and apple id and click Continue

12 When you see the following messages on screen, click it

    Talk to Apple Support Now

Provide your phone number and Apple Support will call you now.

Wait time: 2 minutes or less

After I clicked I got a call immediately from Apple Support from 18002752273 - I am not sure if you are supposed to call this number directly though.

I answered 3 security questions and the operator submitted a ticket to the Itunes Support or Itunes Security department. After a few minutes she came back to tell me that it was fixed. All the frustration is gone.

    Happy Holidays.

For all of those who think it's as easy as calling Apple support to get your ID reset, please don't patronize the rest of us with your "duh, it's so easy, stupid!" replies. We've all figured out how to call the apple support people (although it's not as easy when you're calling from a small central european country, which doesn't have a local apple support office - don't assume that everyone is American).

The problem is that my security questions and backup email address have been hacked and reset without my knowledge. Therefore, Apple, with all of their 'geniuses', cannot verify that I am who I am and that the Apple ID is mine. The **** ID username was my email address for God's sake!

I've spent litterally hours on the phone with them I've had the issue escalated and spoken with account managers, etc. Still, I've always gotten the same reply, "Sorry".

If there are so many people that are dealing with this issue, why hasn't Apple announced a fix or even acknowledged that this is a major problem. I've lost hundreds of dollars of app purchases because of this and am ready to boycott Apple and move to another device.
