iPods are not assigned to specific users. They are associated with an iTunes library. When you connect it to your iTunes library for the first time, iTunes may prompt you to start syncing it with your iTunes library. If you do so, the existing content on the iPod will be replaced by content from your iTunes library, and the iPod is now associated to your iTunes library.
If iTunes does not prompt you when you connect it, the iPod may be set to Manually manage music. With this setting, you can manually remove songs from it and manually add new songs to it. If you set up automatic syncing, then the existing content of the shuffle will be erased, and replaced by content from your iTunes library, based on how you set up automatic syncing. And the iPod is now associated with your iTunes library.
If the iPod is a shuffle, as stated in your profile information, this document has general information about syncing content to shuffles
Please post back with any questions about the iPod loading methods
