Wouldn't a true conspiracy theory have this as the end of the world? Or is that only for religious conspiracy theories?
Now I have to check my calendar.....

That does sound strange.
It might be worth resetting your iPad and seeing if this sorts the problem,
Reset your iPad by pressing the 'Sleep' and 'Home' button at the same time for about 15 seconds or so. Your iPad will then go through a reset / reboot procedure and will be ready for use within about a minute.
Don't worry about doing this as you will not lose data or settings.
Good luck and do report back.

Nope. My stock calendar works fine. I can go many months and years in the future and pull up any date just fine. Even carries forward birthdays and holidays fine.

Mine works just fine on all my devices too.

The odd thing is that I share this account with my wife and her calendar doesn't have the problem (iPhone 3s iOS 6). Tried resetting both my iPhone and iPad without causing any change in the calendars.
On my iPad I can skip to October 2014 in the annual calendar to avoid the error. Then I can scroll back to get Sep 2014. However, from there if I scroll forward from Aug 2014 Sep 2014 appears as a repeated single digit down the RHS.
On my iPhone attempting to skip to Oct 2014 crashes Calendar.
One more oddity, I checked 2015 and frond that the same error appears for Sept 5, 2015...
Seriously, any help appreciated.
Thanks to those who reassured me that their own calendars are fine...
