Thanks, Till

    They are in /Library/Application Support/Apple/Mail/Stationery/Apple/Contents/Resources/

However, each of the Mail templates is actually a package, so you are going to have to dig down into the Resources folder to (for instance) get to Announcements/Contents/Resources//Baby.mailstationery/ & choose "Show Package Contents" to see or edit the component parts, & possibly modify the Description.plist file, one or more strings files, & so on to get the edit to work.
There is no guarantee this won't cause problems, now or in some future revision of Mail.app, so proceed at your own risk!

Thanks for your quick answer. I thought the templates should be there, but there is no „stationary“ folder within my

/Library/Application Support/Apple/Mail folder structure. Is this a hidden folder?

Are you certain you are looking in the root level Library folder & not the user Library folder?

If in Finder you type command + shift + g & in the 'go' box type (without the quotes) "/Library/Application Support/Apple/Mail/Stationery/" & click the "Go" button, what happens?

Well, I was actually looking at my user Library as I thought my own saved templates would appear there. As I described, there is no stationary folder in my user´s library.

Looking at the root Library, there is not even a Mail folder within the Application Support.

Are you sure this did not change with Mavericks? I am sure to have access to the default templates as well as a custom template I once saved trom an existing E-Mail. Everything works as it should, except I cannot find the actual files in the system.

All I can tell you is that the factory-installed templates are at the file path I mentioned. I even checked Time Machine & went back to the first backup made on this 2012 iMac, bought long before Mavericks was released (it came with Mountain Lion installed) & in that & every other backup, that's where they are, whether the backup is for ML or Mavericks.

Again, I ask if you use the Finder's "Go" command & enter the file path exactly as it appears below, what do you see?

    /Library/Application Support/Apple/Mail/Stationery/

You should see one folder, named "Apple." Open that & the file path to the stationary package files should appear.

If not, please describe what happens.

Go-command´s answer: „Folder was not found“ (in german)

All I can tell you is that I have this 27" iMac I bought summer 2012 – it´s updated to Mavericks and I had my own template sitting along the default ones within my Mail App with no pain. I know that Stationary folder has been there in former versions of OS X, but when I checked it lately I could not find it.

I double-checked my Time Machine to find that this folder dissapeared late summer 2012 – assumedly after updating from Lion to ML.

Hi folks. You can drill down to your custom templates in OS X Mavericks by following this path:

    User Account > Library > Containers > com.apple.mail > Data > Library > Application Support > Mail > Stationary > Apple > Contents > Resources > Custom > Contents > Resources.

    Happy emailing!
