I personally think Apple should release a modified version of iOS 7 to run on iPod Touch 4th Gen, iPad 1st gen, and maybe iPhone 3gs. This version would be specificly modified for the iDevices that have ram under 512 MB, but iOS 7 uses alot of power, but maybe Apple could manage to do it. I wish an Apple employee would take in my ideas ( i have a open mind and big imagination when it comes to getting ideas). This would solve all this anger! Also, this may be hard (or may be impossible in all ways) but maybe There is a way to upgrade your RAM?

Well presenting your idea here to the users on these forums will certainly not get it recognized by Apple

They do not read these forums for ideas

You really should post it at www.apple.com/feedback

In reverse, there has never been a way to upgrade, I.e., increase, the memory in an iOS device.  When the ram is integrated in the CPU chip and not separate, there is not a way to increase the ram without building a new logic board.

It is not unusual for operating systems to grow and leave the older hardware behind.  Adding more capability places more demand on the hardware that may not be able to be met while maintaining acceptable performance.  That has always been a fact of life in the world of computers...from vacuum tubes to transistors to solid state, integrated devices.

iOS began as a dumbed-down Mac OS X for personal devices that lacked the power of the personal computer.

Thats just their little game to make money cuz that seems to be the only thing that matters in life anymore apparently, you have the apple ipod touch 4th gen and they come out with ios 7 and if you want it, you have to buy the new ipod, i recently got a white 32gb 4th gen ipod touch about a week later ios 7 came out and i was pretty ******

And which of the wonderful iOS 7 features do you feel you are missing?

I kinda of think apple was genius to create the iOS7 for iPod touch 5th generations only. Otherwise everyone would have just kept there 4th generation and downloaded iOS7 for free and apple would have made no profit. I say just go buy an iPod 5th generation! There worth it. Better camera better sound microphone you can get those apps your complaining about not being able to get! The touch screen is a hundred times better and the 5th generation is much faster! I upgraded to the 5th generation before iOS7 was even out and I loved it! The update was just a plus!!

There is definetely reason to get upset in regard to this matter. Yes, there is an obvious fact that as there are upgrades there will be uncompatible devices. The part to get upset about is, in each of the series iPhone & iPad, the current latest device and the previous generation all work with iOS. We see this with Mac and Mavericks how late 2008+ models support having this.. latest upgrade for older devices.

iPod touch is being singled out as it's only for the latest device. You would ASSUME that since you have the 2nd latest device in the generation, you wouldn't be singled out like this.

I'm completely aware that Apple doesn't read these forums, as most corporates won't read their community BUT it is not appreciated to see all the Apple fanboys defending this calling it "genius".

No it is not a rip off because your iPod 4 is not capable of running iOS 7. It is to old and doesn't have enough RAM for iOS 7 to be installed.

The only ones that can remove your posts are the Hosts. This is usually done because your post violates the TOU. You might find it wise to reveiw the TOU rather then complaining about your posts being removed.

Apple policy is tonot put an operating system on a device that does not have the hardware capable of giving the user a reasonable experience.  If the CPU and memory cannot work smoothly or fast enough, the user will be very upset with the results.  Every operating system producer specifies minimum requirements for their OS.  Apple is no different.

It is true that the every os has minimum requirements but the problem is that apple is making ios 7's something that actually can support the os. And even if it isnt supported they could take out the paralax effect (3d effect) so it is supported on a device with a slower processor. So anyway, the main reason that they dont make it for ipod 4g is because they want u to buy a 5g because they want money over happy customers.

It appears Apple has decided that the market for that downgraded iOS 7 was too small to warrant the cost of the development of it. So they opted to cut off support for it. In other words it was economically unfeasible to do that.
