You could try the 4300 driver. It doesn't look like the 4200 is supported anymore. It doesn't appear on http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669, but you could call Samsung to confirm.

Thank you for your advice. Now I can print but the scanner still doesn't work.

I am having the same issue with my Samsung 4200 scanner. I have all the correct drivers but I need to be able to scan. I can print but I cannot scan. Previously I was able to scan documents and photos into Word documents. The source of the problem - Microsoft Word 2011. It seems that Word 2011 (which I had to upgrade to last year when I bought my iPad) no longer allows you to insert a photo from a camera or scanner. Does anyone know how to scan a document without using MS Word?

The 4200 is not shown as supported anymore. You could try asking Samsung. Or you could try adding your printer with one of the supported models that scans:

Thanks for your reply, John.
It is not just the 4200 that is not supported. It seems that adding a photo from a scanner is not available in Word 2011. I'm going to try Open Office and see if that works. [Scanning on my 4200 worked just fine until I got the 2011 Word].
